Fr Antonio Spadaro SJ

Abstract to follow:
Fr. Antonio Spadaro is a Jesuit priest and Undersecretary for the Vatican's Dicastery for Culture and Education.
In 1998 he joined the community of the Jesuits’ biweekly review La Civiltà Cattolica, of which he has been editor-in-chief since 2011. He is also a member of the board of directors for Georgetown University. He received a Doctorate in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he taught as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Theology. Since 2011 he has been a Consultor of the Pontifical Council for Culture (now Dicastery for Culture and Education).
He is also an ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts and Letters of the Virtuosi at the Pantheon. He has published about 30 volumes about theology in dialogue with contemporary culture. Fr Spadaro is the author of the first interview with Pope Francis which had international circulation (2013). He follows Francis in his apostolic trips as a member of the Papal entourage.
He was appointed undersecretary for the Vatican's Dicastery for Culture and Education in September 2023.
